BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Chief Lediga
Chief Lediga

Chief has been a chief executive and chairman of a companies that operated in: 

- Institutional stockbroking

- Private clients portfolio management (including wealth management)

- Asset management (hedge and enhanced passive funds). 

 

He has engaged on a smaller scale in alternative investments such as private equity and real estate. Has more than 20 years experience and leadership in investments markets. His experience also includes working in short term insurance.  

 

He has strategic, operating, entrepreneurial and governance experience having been a chief executive and later chairman of a stockbroking firm and investment management companies that undertook the activities above for over two decades. He also lectures part-time in strategy and digital transformation at a business school, GIBS. 

Currently he is a non-executive director of companies and executive chairman of his company, Chieftains Consulting (Pty) Ltd, a company that holds his (BEE ) investments and also does occasional strategy consulting and strategy facilitation. In 2018-2019 he was appointed to the Commission of Inquiry in the Public Investment Corporation (PIC) by President Ramaphosa. He holds a BCom degree from Wits University and an MBA (Cum laude) from Unisa’s School of Business Leadership. 

Izan De Bruin
Izan De Bruin

Izan has been an asset manager (managing both private and institutional portfolios) for the past 30 years. Izan has also been involved in many and diversified businesses, including; hospitality and tourism, mining and construction, manufacturing, agriculture and horticulture, rental businesses as well as JSE listings. He founded independent asset management and stockbroking companies Xenium Financial Managers and Xenium Securities 1998. Maru Asset managers was founded by Izan in 2005 and is currently CIO and Director.


Izan has been a Compliance officer and KI (Key Individual) for over 20 years and during these years he also served as FIC Compliance and Money laundering officer, Settlement officer and other related positions. Izan has and is fulfilling these Financial Services and Compliance manager duties for a number of national and International entities.


From 2007 (post-Kebble), he was a director of Rand Gold and Exploration board, and was instrumental in the legal and corporate processes that culminated in Rand Gold reaching the R1-billion settlement with JCI in 2010. He also had the executive responsibility for mining related rights and assets.

Oupa Madonsela
Oupa Madonsela

Oupa gained extensive experience trading: Equities, Currencies, Equity Futures and to a lesser extent, Fixed Income products at Consilium Securities (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Consilium Capital. In 2009, Oupa was appointed an Executive Director of Consilium Securities responsible for the firm's Corporate Governance function and Community Outreach programmes. At the beginning of 2012, Oupa was appointed the Stockbroker in Charge responsible for the Bryanston branch of the firm. In November 2012, he was appointed the Equity Derivatives Compliance Officer responsible for the Equity Futures compliance function for the firm.


In 2013 Oupa joined Maru Asset Managers as founding member and CEO. In 2014 he joined Vunani as hedge fund trader. Oupa founded a transport company in 2018 where he is currently the CEO.

Elana de Swardt
Elana De Swardt

Elana has been in the advertising media industry for over 30 years as a media strategist, media director, board member of various creative advertising agencies and for some, a shareholder.


She has been very active in the advertising industry through her involvement in the then Media Directors Circle (MDC) as the first female chairperson, lecturing and speaking at various advertising functions. She also served on the SAARF Board for more than 7 years and was instrumental in media industry research. In 2003 she was recognised as one of “the most influential women in media” Sasol/The Media awards. She received a Roger Garlick award for the most innovative use of TV. Ten years ago, she went independent as a media consultant/media strategist and became the sole member of Yellow Ribbon Media.


Her client experience stretches small and big budget clients, from f.m.c.g., retail, financial, media owner to motoring. Clients include Reckitt Benckizer, SC Johnson, Nestle, Cadbury, AVI, DStv, M-Net, SABC TV and Radio, Edgars, Merck Pharmaceutical, Bayer, Nespresso, Mercedes Benz,
Toyota, Mweb, Old Mutual, Nedbank CIB, MoneyGram, SAA, Coca-Cola, Media24 and many more.

Schoeman Rudman
Schoeman Rudman

Schoeman completed his law degree at The University of Port Elizabeth. He joined Sanlam in 1984 as a Legal Adviser giving Estate Planning, Retirement Planning and Investment Advice to Clients in the Wealth Market as well as Small and Medium Enterprises. Since then he has always been involved in Financial Services. His accomplishments include a massive turnaround at Momentum Life (1990 – 1996) where he was an executive manager that initiated the first paperless office in South Africa and significantly improved operations and results. He thereafter joined IBM in America (New York) as director of e-business for IBM Insurance World Wide (1996- 1998). At the end of 1998 he joined CSC EMEA (in London) assisting in setting up a joint venture company with Hollard for Employee Benefits (South Africa).

In 2000 Schoeman was approached by FirstRand to set up Bank Assurance for the group via a joint venture between FNB and Momentum Life. He was a member of the FNB Exco and served as executive director on the board of EBucks. In 2007 he started his own consulting company and consulted to companies like Absa, KGA Life (where he was a non-executive director for 2 years), and Hollard. In April 2017 he joined Classic Private Wealth as Wealth Planner, Key Individual and Chairman of the Product Committee.

Jolene Bauermeister
Jolene Bauermeister

Jolene completed a BComm Investment Management Degree at the University of Pretoria. She joined the financial services industry in 2007 at GTC (formerly known as Grant Thornton Capital). Jolene has extensive knowledge in the investment industry as a result of working at a Linked Investment Service Provider (PPS Investments) and at PSG Asset Management as a Fund Specialist. She completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning Law through the University of the Free State in 2012 and holds the internationally recognised CFP ® designation. She joined Classic Private Wealth in 2017 as a Financial Planner and is currently a Wealth Planner and Chairman of the Investment Committee.
